Better Together was created in April 2024 during a two-day UXL Designation, where it earned the UXL's Choice Award for its innovative and creative concept in fostering meaningful family connections.
Better Together provides a private space for families to stay connected through features like a Daily Photo Feed for updates, a Memory Album for cherished moments, and a Hotspots Map for shared favorite locations, all centered around a seamless, interactive Home Page.
Lack of meaningful communication leads to feelings of detachment and weakened familial bonds. Traditional social media platforms often prioritize surface-level interactions, while generational differences in communication styles further exacerbate the challenge of staying connected in a meaningful way.

Lack of meaningful communication leads to feelings of detachment and weakened familial bonds. Traditional social media platforms often prioritize surface-level interactions, while generational differences in communication styles further exacerbate the challenge of staying connected in a meaningful way.
We focus on sharing user’s daily lives through photography and visuals- things that will give more meaning to interactions with family- more so than just texting. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words.
The Home Page serves as a central hub for families to share quick updates and status emojis, offering an easy, visual way to stay connected.
The Daily Photo Feed allows families to share activities through photos, creating a "Memory Album" at the end of each day to cherish together.
The Memories Album lets families save, favorite, and revisit daily photo compilations, creating a shared space to organize and cherish memories together.
Families can explore and share favorite locations, complete with personalized ratings for each spot.
Working on Better Together during the intense, two-day Designation challenge was both rewarding and eye-opening. This project deepened my understanding of how design can address real-life challenges, like bridging the emotional distance between families. It reinforced my belief in the power of thoughtful design to foster meaningful connections and create tools that truly bring people closer.
